Information for ISU Faculty
Online Instructor Certificate Course
The Online Instructor Certificate Course was developed to provide faculty with the necessary contacts and skills needed to develop online or hybrid course. For over two years, this program has assisted many faculty members in the course design process. This course is NOT about Blackboard. It does cover the pedagogical aspects of teaching online. Some aspects covered in the course are developing goals and objectives, developing online activities, engaging your students, digital copyright issues, and so much more. To be eligible for the stipend, the faculty member must be teaching online foundational studies courses or in a new online program that has been approved for the stipend by Extended Learning. Further eligibility requirements can be found on the application. The summer semester course will run from September 8 through November 16. Applications are due by the end of the day on August 20, 2015. Please direct any questions to Samantha Penney, email@example.com, 812 – 237-8479.
The Distance Education office was charged with the task of examining the best practices at peer institutions, examining current practices at ISU, and drafting a set of proposed guidelines that would be used to conduct classes and programs through Indiana State Online. Guidelines for administrating distance education are available to ISU faculty, students, and staff.
You are encouraged to take advantage of the extra assistance offered by Distance Education's Instructional Design Specialists to design and maintain your online and traditional courses. Through collaboration with ISU faculty, our ID Specialists will help you to design meaningful, interactive courses via careful analysis and the development of engaging content and purposeful assessments. Distance Delivery Classrooms
Our Distance Delivery Classrooms use various technology in them, such as Blackboard Collaborate and Tegrity. The classrooms that use a student director to manage the systems are located in DH104, TC111, and UH008. These rooms contain seating and computers for 16 students. Our new classroom in DH303 is a mobile classroom with furniture that can be moved around at the teachers discretion. It seats 30. We will soon have a new classroom in TA229 that seats 24.
