Four Indiana State University commencement ceremonies to be held this weekend

Indiana State University will conduct four in-person Spring Commencement ceremonies this weekend at the Hulman Center:  

Friday, May 7 

7 p.m. — Graduate ceremony 

Saturday, May 8 

10 a.m. — Bayh College of Education and College of Health and Human Services 

2 p.m. — Scott College of Business and College of Technology 

6 p.m. — College of Arts and Sciences 

There are 501 graduate students who are receiving degrees and 1,585 undergraduates. Graduates will have their names announced and they will walk across the stage, but there will be no handshakes because of COVID safety precautions. 

Graduates are limited to four tickets each for family and friends. The tickets assign holders to a specific section of Hulman Center. The audience is being asked to maintain social distancing. 

ISU President Dr. Deborah J. Curtis will read her speech live. Other speeches will be on video. 

The graduate student speaker is Precious Barnes, a native of Norfolk, Virginia. She earned a doctoral degree in Athletic Training. 

The graduate alumni speaker is Andrea Butcher, President of HRD Advisory Group, a human resources consulting firm in Carmel, Indiana. 

The undergraduate student speaker is Karen Torres, from Columbus, Indiana. She earned a degree in Communications. 

The undergraduate alumni speaker is Clyde Harris, President of Diverse Staffing Services in Indianapolis, a provider of employment solutions for corporate clients throughout the world, and Prime 47 steakhouse.
