ISU’s Networks Financial Institute organizes influential national insurance summit

April 2, 2021

The state of Florida’s insurance commissioner and an Indiana congressman will be among the speakers at the 16th annual Insurance Public Policy Summit on Wednesday, April 7.

The event, organized by ISU’s Networks Financial Institute in collaboration with Faegre Drinker, runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (ET). It is usually conducted in person in Washington, D.C., but will be online-only this year because of the pandemic.

The summit is unique because it brings together national leaders from various segments of government and the insurance industry to discuss pressing issues. This year, transition under the new Biden Administration will be one of those topics.

More than 350 insurance industry executives, government regulators and members of the news media are expected to attend. The summit is free and the public is invited to attend some or all of the event by registering online.

ISU President Deborah J. Curtis will deliver opening remarks. Other ISU speakers are Terry Daugherty, Dean of the Scott College of Business; Tradara McLaurine, Career Services Executive Director; and Ellei Kay, insurance and risk management student.

“We’re proud that ISU is host to an event of this caliber,” Curtis said. “Part of what makes Networks Financial Institute and our Insurance and Risk Management program unique is its deep connection to industry leaders in Indiana and nationally.”

The summit’s keynote address is by David Altmaier, Commissioner of Florida’s Office of Insurance Regulation and President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Rep. Trey Hollingsworth, a member of the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance will talk about political perspectives.

A panel discussion titled “COVID-19 & the Insurance Impact: Challenges & Opportunities,” will feature these speakers: David Nadig, Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Allstate; Gretchen Cepek, Senior Vice President & General Counsel for Allianz; and Jenn Webb, Assistant Vice President of Government Relations for Pacific Life.
