Indiana State University marks Founders Day with video celebration

January 27, 2021

Indiana State University will pay tribute to its past while looking forward to continued excellence in the future with a Founders Day video that goes live online at 8:30 a.m. Friday, January 29.

The video will be available at indstate.edu/alumni and in ISU Today, the daily electronic newsletter for campus.

Celebrating the theme of impact, ISU President Deborah J. Curtis reviews the accomplishments of the university’s living former presidents — Dr. John W. Moore, Dr. Lloyd W. Benjamin III, and Dr. Dan Bradley. Curtis also discussed ISU’s resilience during the pandemic.

The video includes Terre Haute mayor Duke Bennett and alumnus Dr. Darren Brucken, Vigo County Health Commissioner.  Bennett talks about the importance of ISU to the community. Brucken talks about how ISU is addressing the shortage of healthcare workers such as nurses and physical therapists.

Rex Kendall, Executive Director of the ISU Alumni Association, notes that the institution opened to students on January 6, 1870.

“Since that time, Indiana State University has served as a source not only of information and learning but also of inspiration, ideals, encouragement, and social mobility for more than 150,000 alumni,” Kendall says.

Andrea Angel, Vice President of University Advancement and CEO of the ISU Foundation, looks ahead to March 3 as the third annual Give to Blue Day.
