January 4, 2021

Daniel Barwick is the new Director of Development for Indiana State University’s College of Health and Human Services, the Division of University Advancement announced.

“We are excited Dan Barwick has accepted the director of development position at Indiana State,” said Andrea Angel, Vice President of University Advancement and CEO of the ISU Foundation. “His extensive higher education experience, and desire to support ISU’s mission will boldly propel our work to advance the university.”

Said Barwick: “It’s an honor to join the team at Indiana State. ISU is Indiana’s top university for student social and economic mobility, and the opportunity to raise funds for programs that bring the greatest value to students was tremendously appealing.”

Barwick comes to ISU from The Mortarboard, a higher education media and consulting firm, where he served as the organization’s president. Previously, he was president of Independence Community College for eight years, helping to raise more than $30 million for the college and other organizations.

Barwick also held faculty and administrative positions at Alfred State College in Alfred, New York, for more than 15 years. He led the institution’s advancement operation,  including the successful completion of the College’s first capital campaign.

“From fundraising, corporate sponsorship acquisition, grant writing and campus leadership, Dan brings a wealth of experience and a unique skillset to our team,” said Jeremiah Turner, Vice President of University Advancement. “I look forward to working alongside Dan to develop a comprehensive fundraising program for the College of Health and Human Services.”

Barwick graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a degree in philosophy. He earned a Master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
