Turner tapped for foundation leadership role

The Indiana State University Division of Advancement has hired Jeremiah Turner as associate vice president.

Turner of Terre Haute has been director of the Sycamore Athletic Fund since 2017. He joined the Indiana State team as a development officer in 2014, progressing to director of athletic sponsorships in 2016. He has more than 20 years' experience in all aspects of sales and fundraising.

"Jeremiah is extremely passionate about Indiana State University and has done great work to grow our fundraising efforts for Sycamore Athletics. I am excited to work with Jeremiah as the associate vice president for advancement to propel our fundraising efforts," said Andrea Angel, vice president for University Advancement and CEO of the ISU Foundation. "I am confident that his enthusiasm and skillset are the right fit to lead our development team."

Turner earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana State in May. In his new role, Turner will lead a development team to meet the university's fundraising goals.

"I would like to thank Andrea Angel and members of the search committee for the opportunity to serve as the next associate vice president of advancement," Turner said. "Indiana State is a special place that provides a robust academic experience. I am excited to broaden my role at the university to grow resources for our students and programs."

Before State, Turner worked as general manager for Nelligan Sports Marketing (2010-2014), as director of sales for WTWO (2009-2010) and in advertising sales for the Tribune Star before serving as its publisher for 18 months (2000-2009).

"Jeremiah's leadership has helped the Sycamore Athletic Fund to increase fundraising and grow the sponsorship program in support of athletic department priorities. We are looking forward to Jeremiah expanding his role to lead the development team," said Kim Kunz, executive director of stewardship and constituent relations and chair of the search committee.

Turner's past community involvement includes Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Board of Trustees (2008-2014), Wabash Valley Goodwill Industries Board of Directors (2008-2017), volunteer coach for Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club and Wabash Valley Family Sports Center (2006-2017), United Way of the Wabash Valley (2008-2010), Vigo County School Corp. Superintendent's Council and Community Task Force (2007-2009) and Indiana Advertising Executives Association Board of Directors (2005-2007).

Turner and his wife, Jennifer, a 1993 graduate of Indiana State, have two children, a daughter, Jillian, 16, and a son, Jensen, 14.
