A call to the Indiana State University Police Department was received today at approximately 11:25 a.m. reporting a note found in the building. The note stated that a bomb had been placed in the Science Building on campus and was set to go off at 11:35 a.m.

University Police immediately evacuated the building and neighboring buildings. Officers from the Terre Haute Police Department, Vigo County Sheriff's Office and local Homeland Security officials, who happened to be on campus, assisted with clearing the buildings.

Text message and email alerts were sent to the campus community informing of the situation. Updates were also issued during the investigation. A series of general searches of the building were conducted by police, and nothing suspicious was found.

The Indiana State Police were requested to conduct a more thorough search using their specialists and trained "bomb-sniffing" canines. This last search was completed at approximately 2:55 p.m., and again, nothing suspicious was located.

The Science Building and the surrounding restricted areas were open for public use immediately following the final sweep of the building. Police officers will be in the Science Building until 9 p.m. to assist people to pick up their personal belongings.

The Indiana State University Police will be continuing the investigation.
