The Turman Art Gallery at Indiana State University is pleased to present "Recall, Place and Replace: Reading from The Poetics of Space" Oct. 25-Nov. 8.
The exhibited works, inspired by Gaston Bachelard's "The Poetics of Space," are by current Digital Art students from the department of art and design at Indiana State.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception and meet the artists 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
The exhibit celebrates work that includes digital animation, video installation, digital cinema and sound art by featuring the emerging talents of undergraduate and graduate levels visual art students enrolled in the intermediate and advanced digital art classes, taught by Professor Sala Wong at the Indiana State department of art and design.
The participating student artists are Alecsandré Baumgartner, Tyler Brown, Haley Burton, Abigail Dorey, Norman Yin Chen, Jamie Gubelman, Alexis McNeil, Latesha Merkel, Paul Miller, Sanchez Miller, Sam T. Morlan, Stefan Munsey, Errol Olenja, Clarissa Rawlings and Darian Tyler.
In addition to the Bachelard-inspired works, the Introductory-level Digital Art students will present their projects in sound, digital imaging and animation. Students from the introduction to digital art class are Stephanie Baker, James Bolt, Audre Brickey, Michelle Champagne, James Cole, Myranda Coler, Charles Cummins, Santiago Jones, Lana Majstorovic, Becca McGregor, Olivia Monhollen, Alexiss Taylor and Joniah Tyson.
The Turman Art Gallery is located on the Indiana State campus in the Fine Arts Building on Chestnut, just west of 7th Street.
