Tim O'Neill Named Interim President of the ISU Foundation

July 17, 2006

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - An Indiana State University alumnus with more than 35 years experience in the banking industry has been selected to serve as the interim president of the ISU Foundation.

Timothy J. O'Neill, a 1969 graduate and a retired executive of First Indiana Bank, will oversee daily operations of the ISU Foundation from both the Terre Haute and Indianapolis offices, provide leadership to the University's comprehensive capital campaign and guide the Foundation in its efforts to become a separate entity from the university it supports. His appointment is effective July 17.

"Tim O'Neill has served our university as an alumni leader, a trustee and an active member of our Foundation Board. His financial expertise coupled with his alumni contacts and extensive knowledge of the university will be tremendous assets as we build our fundraising efforts," said Lloyd W. Benjamin III, president of Indiana State University.

Larry Boulet, chair of the Indiana State University Foundation Board of Directors, echoed Benjamin's praise for O'Neill.

"Tim is an excellent choice for this interim leadership role. With his understanding of the university, he can hit the ground running and keep us moving forward. We appreciate his willingness to serve the Foundation in this capacity," said Boulet.

O'Neill has served on the ISU Foundation Board since 1996, chairing the first athletic development committee and heading up the finance committee. He held the office of treasurer before accepting the role as interim president.

He was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1987 to 1995, serving as its vice president and secretary. He was a member of the ISU Alumni Association Board from 1979 to 1985, and was elected president of the national organization in 1982.

A native of Indiana, O'Neill came to Indiana State on an athletic scholarship for swimming and served as the team captain his senior year. He was also active in Blue Berets, Blue Key, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Interfraternity Council.

"I've always been an enthusiastic supporter of Indiana State. Since graduating in 1969, I've been trying to pay back the University for the experiences and opportunities they provided me as a student. I hope I can help others realize the impact Indiana State has had on them and how they can give back. This is an excellent opportunity to serve the University I know and love," O'Neill said.

O'Neill and his wife, Bobbie, reside in Greenwood and have three sons. He is currently a member of the Greenwood Building Corporation and has served on the city's Economic Development Commission and Parks and Recreation Board. While a senior vice president of First Indiana Bank, he was a member of several national banking organizations.

"We are in the midst of exciting times at Indiana State. I look forward to interacting with our alumni, donors and friends to provide outstanding educational opportunities to not only those currently enrolled at ISU, but to students who come through our doors in the future," he said.
