Nettrouer awarded President's Medal at Indiana State

Brandon Nettrouer was awarded the President's Medal for Leadership, Scholarship and Service at Indiana State University.

The medal is awarded to a junior or senior who has exhibited a passion for service, leadership and academic merit. Nettrouer of South Whitley graduated with an insurance and risk management degree and an insurance sales certificate. He has already started his career in South Bend with Gibson, an independent insurance agency, as an associate risk advisor.

"Winning the President's Medal is the exclamation mark to my college experience," Nettrouer said. "I'm thankful for everyone who made it possible for me to go to Indiana State and to be successful while I was here. I simply tried to make everyone who invested in me proud, and along the way, I was able to positively impact some great people of all ages, careers and backgrounds."

At Indiana State, Nettrouer has participated in the Networks Professional Development Program, was a Gongaware scholar, served as president of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Gamma Iota Sigma insurance fraternity and Indiana State Insurance Honors Corps and was a member of the Order of Omega and Inside Out men's organization against sexual violence and abuse.

Nettrouer received the 2015 Fraternity Man of the Year, Richard G. Landini Outstanding Junior Award, Mark Williams Most Outstanding Junior in Fraternity Life, Junior Sycamore Service Challenge Winner and Servant Leader Developing Others Award by the Networks Professional Development Program, among other accolades.

Nettrouer is a graduate of Whitko High School.
