The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance at Indiana State University will host a workshop to help individuals create a secure financial future for a dependent with special needs. The workshop will feature Gordon Homes, a certified financial planner practitioner versed in financial and estate planning for children and dependents with special needs, who “brings a unique perspective through his experience both as an advisor and parent.”

Homes serves on the MetLife Center for Special Needs Planning National Advisory Council and is an active member of many other organizations. He has been featured in Kiplinger’s, the New York Times and the Washington Post and speaks frequently at parent support groups and conferences.

The ABLE Act and waiver update will be discussed and clarified in the workshop, as well as preserving benefit eligibility through special needs trusts, guardianship concerns and understanding public benefits.

The workshop will take place on Thursday, Nov. 5 in the banquet room of Rick’s Smokehouse BBQ on Wabash Ave. in Terre Haute, from 6:30 to 8 p. m. Participants can arrive at 6 p. m. to enjoy dinner. The meal is provided by Gordon Homes and MetLife.
