Indiana Statesman launches redesigned newspaper

November 18, 2014

The Indiana Statesman has launched a redesigned newspaper intended to give the publication a refreshed and simplified look. The new design also should allow readers to find their areas of interest faster, according to the student publication's editor.

The Indiana Statesman student newspaper has been in existence since 1879. The freshly redesigned Indiana Statesman brings back the signature slogan "For ISU students. About ISU students. By ISU students."

The new design also gives a cleaner, more engaging appearance. Highlights of the redesign include: increased color, different style of font, teasers, and section heads. The most significant change is on the front page. The new look features a bold new design across the top and a new area for promoting stories inside in the paper.

"We are excited about the new features," said Alex Modesitt, Statesman editor-in-chief. "The Statesman was ready for an updated look. Without the huge Statesman logo at the top, the new redesign is going to allow Statesman editors the ability to be more creative with the newspaper's front page."

The Indiana Statesman provides the campus community with its No. 1 source for news, sports coverage and commentary and opinion. The newspaper is published three days a week during the fall and spring semesters and three times during the summer. Between 4,000 and 6,000 copies are distributed.Writer and contact: Alyssa Bennett, Student Media, Indiana State University, 812-247-3984 or abennett18@sycamores.indstate.edu
