Visiting artist to perform Nov. 12 at Indiana State

Admired as an exciting performer and piano teacher, Yang Ding of China will perform 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Indiana State University's Landini Center for the Performing Arts recital hall.

The concert, which is jointly sponsored by the School of Music and retired Indiana State professor Jim Slutz and his wife, Shirley, is free and open to the public.

In addition to Yang's performance, he will spend a few days working and interacting with Indiana State's music students.

Yang won the top prize at Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, Cincinnati World Piano Competition, the New York Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, among many others.

As a solo performer, Yang has performed throughout the U.S., Korea and China. He had a recital tour last year and gave six standing-ovation performances.

As a piano teacher, Yang has taught winners of 24 state, regional and national competitions in China. He is currently an assistant professor of piano at the Shenyang Conservancy in China and a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas College of Music.
