Indiana State University President Dan Bradley has been named to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Committee on Women's Athletics.
The committee provides leadership and assistance to the NCAA in its efforts to provide equitable opportunities, fair treatment and respect for women in all aspects of intercollegiate athletics. Its goals include increasing opportunities for female student-athletes, coaches and administrators; increasing professional advancement, marketing, licensing, promotions and public relations opportunities for women; and assisting in achieving gender equity and complying with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
"I am excited to serve on a committee whose goal is equitable opportunities, fair treatment and respect for women in college sports," Bradley said.
Bradley is one of four university presidents serving on the 15-member panel and one of six members from Division I schools. His appointment fills a vacancy created by the departure of former Illinois State University President Tim Flanagan. His term runs through September 2016.
He previously served on the NCAA Division II President's Council from 2004-2008 while president of Fairmount State University in West Virginia.
