Eighteen students who each maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average during their time at Indiana State University will be honored with the Hines Memorial Medal during spring 2006 commencement May 6 in Hulman Center.

Named for Linnaeus Neal Hines, who served as the university's fourth president from 1921 to 1933, the Hines Medal recognizes graduating seniors with the highest cumulative grade point average. This year's pool of recipients is the largest since the award's inception.

This year's honorees are:

* Kelly Aschliman, Fort Wayne. A public relations major with minors in journalism and communication, Aschliman hopes to work in politics in Washington, D.C.
* Ashley Ave, Clinton. An accounting major, Ave plans to become a certified public accountant with a career in public accounting.
* Helen Denise Drake, Shelburn. An electronics technology major, Drake plans to design or maintain electrical systems and possibly obtain a position as a supervisor.
* Sheila Huntsman, Waldron. An elementary and special education major, Huntsman plans to teach elementary or special needs students in an Indiana school.
* Sherrie Huntsman, Waldron. An elementary and special education major, Huntsman plans to teach elementary or special education at an Indiana school.
* Adrie Koehler, Center Point. A business education and business administration major, Koehler's future plans include teaching.
* Andrea Lewman, Indianapolis. An accounting major with a minor in insurance, Lewman has accepted employment with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a global certified public accounting firm with offices in Indianapolis.
* Kiel Majewski, Terre Haute. A history major with a minor in creative writing, Majewski's future holds a wish to grow in wisdom and knowledge.
* Lindsey Miller, Decatur. An English major, Miller plans to teach English at the middle school or high school level.
* Michelle Montoya, Terre Haute. A business management major, Montoya is moving to Bloomfield to start a career in retail management.
* John Nay, Columbus. A mathematics major with a minor in chemistry, Nay plans to study medicine for a career that will both challenge him personally and benefit his family and community.
* Andrew Powell, Worthington. A chemistry major with a minor in business administration, Powell will attend Indiana University School of Medicine this fall.
* Ashlie Stallion, Indianapolis. A life sciences major with minors in chemistry and Spanish, Stallion plans to attend medical school this fall.
* Adam Steele, Auburn. A dual major in life sciences and ecology and organismal biology who holds a minor in chemistry, Steele plans are to start medical school this fall.
* Dana Vanderhill, Wind Lake, Wis. An elementary education major with a minor in Spanish, Vanderhill plans to move to Milwaukee and pursue a teaching position.
* Meghan Williams, Terre Haute. A chemistry major, Williams plans to begin studying toward a doctor of pharmacy degree this fall at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy.
* Destiny Wilson, Terre Haute. A speech-language pathology major, Wilson plans to continue her education at Indiana State in the fall to pursue a masters degree in speech-language pathology.
* Theresa Woodard, Indianapolis. A nursing major, Woodard plans to move with her husband to Pittsburgh and work as a registered nurse with plans to eventually become a professor of nursing.
