Nursing students in Indiana State University's senior community health class will host a community health fair at Ryves Youth Center at Etling Hall, 1356 Locust St. in Terre Haute.

The free event is set for 2 - 6 p.m. March 19. Mayor Duke Bennett is scheduled to help kick off the afternoon's activities as part of his "52 Weeks of Fitness" initiative.

Nursing students will have informational and interactive booths and will perform blood pressure screening and calculate body mass index. More than 20 community exhibitors will also participate and an outside display will feature emergency vehicles such as police cars, an ambulance and the Terre Haute SWAT team's Humvee.

Health fair participants in addition to Indiana State nursing students include the Area Health Education Center; Boy Scouts; Girl Scouts; CARE ambulance, Chances and Services for Youth; Council on Domestic Abuse; Indiana University School of Dentistry; March of Dimes; Red Cross; Terre Haute Fire Department; Terre Haute Police Department; Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Department; Union Hospital diabetes and dietetics educators, stroke educators and Wound Care Center; Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department; Vigo County Health Department; and Vigo County Public Library.
