Sandy Hackett's famous Rat Pack is bringing its critically acclaimed "Someday at Christmas" show to Terre Haute as part of Indiana State University's 2013-14 Performing Arts Series.
Hailed by critics as "extremely strong and hugely entertaining," Someday at Christmas blends the classic charisma of the golden age of Las Vegas with some of Ron Miller's greatest Christmas hits in a tribute to such Rat Pack greats as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Dean Martin. Co-producer Sandy Hackett stars as Joey Bishop, bringing laughs to the show with his impeccable comic timing. The interaction between the group members will ring true to anyone familiar with the original Rat Pack, though newcomers will also enjoy this uplifting and infectiously fun performance.
Co-producer Lisa Dawn Miller, daughter of songwriter Ron Miller, also stars in the show.
"The thing that's great about this show is we have all the Rat Pack songs, but we also have all of the Christmas songs that everybody loves," she said. Some favorites included in the show are "Someday at Christmas" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Sponsored by Terre Haute Savings Bank, "Someday at Christmas" will run one night only, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. A complimentary pre-show event is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. in the lobby area of Tilson Auditorium. The pre-show will feature a performance by Indiana State's Ebony Majestic Choir, family photos with Santa, and refreshments. Audience members are encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. A drop off will be located at the pre-show event.
