Nationally acclaimed author James C. Hunter will speak at a servant leadership seminar at Indiana State University on Nov. 6.

Hunter will present on applying the principles of servant leadership for success in your personal and professional life while strengthening the bonds of respect, responsibility and caring.

"Servant leadership is a philosophy of trying to help others, working collaboratively and listening to people and understanding what the problems are, then also working with other people to come up with solutions," said Robert English, dean of Indiana State's College of Technology, who helped plan the conference.

Hunter is the author of two internationally best-selling books -"The Servant: A Simple Story About the True Essence of Leadership" and "The World's Most Powerful Leadership Principle: How to Become a Servant Leader." His books are used in many MBA and other higher education curriculum around the world, have been translated into two dozen languages and have sold more than 4.2 million copies.

While personally coaching over 2,100 executives in developing the skills of Servant Leadership, Hunter has worked with many of the world's most admired organizations including American Express, Best Buy, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald's, Microsoft, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble and the United States Army, Navy, Air Force & Marine Corps. His clients also include several of Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work for."

The event is open the public as well as faculty, staff and students. Cost to attend is $30 and includes lunch and the afternoon workshop. The deadline to register for the conference is Oct. 31.
