Indiana State University's Nonprofit Leadership Alliance student club is partnering with Heinl's Flower Shop and Vonda's Garden Studio to host its signature event, "Ducks on the Wabash" rubber duck derby, Oct. 19 at Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute.
The event will take place at noon on the Wabash River in conjunction with the 2013 Year of the River. The top five finishers will be able to choose from five prizes including an airboat ride for eight from Joe's Airboat Ride or a piece of art from local artists.

Proceeds from the event will help send Indiana State University NLA student club members to attend the Alliance Management/Leadership Institute in January.

By sponsoring an event that will help send Indiana State NLA students to the national institute, they are helping multiple nonprofit organizations in the Wabash Valley, she said.
"Ducks on the Wabash" has been sanctioned by the Indiana Gaming Commission's Charitable Gaming Division.
