Summer is the perfect time to enroll children and teens in theater and visual arts classes at the Indiana State University Community School of the Arts (CSA).

A variety of theater classes will be offered for older children and teens including "Teens: How to Land That Starring Role!" for ages 12 to 16, "Year of the River: Stage Design and Creative Drama" for ages 10 and up and "Musical Theater: Become the Triple Threat!" for ages 9 and up.

Visual Arts classes will include "The Wonderful World of Clay" for children 7 to 12, "Paint: Think Outside the Tube" for ages 7 to 12, "Think It, Build It, Make It" for ages 7 to 12, "Squiggles and Doodles: Preschool" for children 4 and under and "Let's Play with Clay!" for ages 5 to 8.

Teen classes include "Who Wants to Throw Some Clay?" for ages 11 and up and "Introduction to Digital Arts and Design" for middle high school and high school students.

This year, the CSA is offering supervised lunch activities. Children enrolled in CSA classes can participate in the Creative Lunch hour from noon-1 p.m. daily where they can eat lunch while working on an art project such as drawing, painting and collage. Students must bring a brown-bag lunch. Fee for the Creative Lunch Hour is $5 per day.

Children can also participate in a yoga program in addition to the Creative Lunch Hour. Students will spend half an hour participating in yoga class with licensed children's yoga instructor, Melissa Grinslade. After yoga, children will eat their lunch with students from the Creative Lunch Hour. Students must bring a yoga mat and a brown-bag lunch. Cost is $10 per day.

The School welcomes students of all ages, backgrounds and ability levels to experience professional and affordable instruction in the performing and visual arts.

Contact the CSA office at 812-237-2528 to request a hard-copy schedule by mail or for information about financial aid. Summer camps and lessons begin the week of June 3 and early enrollment is advised.
