Driver Ed Center offers programs for teens, adults

The Indiana State University Driver Education Center will offer a variety of programs this summer for high school students as well as adults.

A comprehensive program for high school students provides 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of in-car driving practice with a certified instructor on a multiple car driving range as well as on-street driving.

Two sessions are available for the summer, with each meeting for two-hours each morning at 8 a.m. Monday through Thursday. The first session begins June 3 while the second session starts July 8. The cost of the comprehensive class is $345. In order to register, students must be 15 years old three weeks prior to the start of class.

Classes covering the Indiana Driver's Manual are available for anyone over the age of 15 will be offered May 27-29 and June 24-26 at a cost of $50 per class for three one-hour sessions beginning at 4 p.m. each day.

The center will also be starting an adult program for anyone 18 or older who needs help with the driving portion of the Indiana driver's license exam, said Austin Keller, driver education coordinator in the department of applied health sciences.
