Indiana State University Community Semester events this week include a discussion, play and a community and a volunteer day.

The Community Semester, which focuses on the theme "Our Town," is a way for the College of Arts and Sciences to showcase what it does best and to encourage faculty and students to share what they are learning to the community. It is also a way to bring innovative ideas in the science, humanities, liberal and creative arts to the area.

ISU faculty in psychology, applied health sciences, and the Center for the Study of Health, Religion and Spirituality will lead a discussion called "The Cognitive, Spiritual, and Neural Effect of Aging: Challenges and Opportunities" on April 10, from 1:30 - 3 p.m. in Landsbaum Center for Health Education Auditorium, 1433 N. 6 ½ Street. Experts will discuss healthy lifestyles changes and the need for relationships with others.

The play "Spoon River Anthology," will begin its run on April 10. The play features the dead who rise from their graves to talk about their past loves, hopes and dreams. The play, which is performed in partnership with the Year of the River Celebration, will take place April 10 - 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Dreiser Hall Theater. On April 12, from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Indiana State's campus and with community partners, students, staff and faulty will participate in Donaghy Day. Everyone will participate in projects to give the community and campus a face lift. This is coordinated by the Center for Community Engagement.
