Indiana Anthem president to speak at Indiana State on April 10

March 27, 2013

The president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana will be the next Scott College of Business Leader In Action presenter at Indiana State University on Wednesday, April 10.

Rob Hillman will present "The Power of People: Achieving Success by Building Strong Relationships in the Workplace" at 2 p.m. in Federal Hall on Indiana State's campus in downtown Terre Haute. A reception will follow his presentation, which is free and open to the public, though registration is required.

"Robert Hillman is a skilled and accomplished business leader, and the lessons that he has learned throughout his career in the insurance and managed care industry can be applied across numerous fields and to many areas of life," said Brien Smith, dean of the Scott College. "Mr. Hillman's presentation will provide lessons not only for our business students, but for anyone in the community who wants to learn from one of the top executives in Indiana."

A 30-year veteran of the health insurance and managed care industry, Hillman assumed his current position in 2007. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana is the largest health benefits company in the state, with nearly 4,500 associates serving more than 3 million members. Prior to Anthem, Hillman served in various sales and operations management roles. He serves on the boards of directors for Special Olympics of Indiana and the United Way of Central Indiana, among other organizations.

While at Indiana State, Hillman also will meet with students in the college's nationally recognized insurance and risk management program, providing them with insights into the industry from a leader's perspective.

"Our Leader in Action Program attracts top-level executives to the Scott College to share their expertise with our students and the community-at-large," Smith said. "Many people have benefited from the insights that business executives have shared through the series, and Mr. Hillman will be a terrific addition as well."

The Leader in Action series started in 2007 and is designed for leaders in the insurance and financial services industries to provide their insights and experience with Indiana State students, along with Wabash Valley residents and business leaders.
