Indiana State University President Dan Bradley has announced the appointment of Greg Goode as executive director for governmental relations.

A former Terre Haute resident and Indiana State University graduate, Goode held a similar position at Indiana State from 2001 to 2007. He is returning to Indiana from Kenmore, Wash., where he serves as chief of staff and director of the Center for Health Policy and Leadership at Bastyr University.

During his previous tenure at Indiana State, Goode was instrumental in securing approval for several major projects including the renovation of University Hall to house ISU's Bayh College of Education, acquisition of the Terre Haute Federal Building to house the Scott College of Business, Cherry Street Multi-Modal Transportation Facility and the Terre Haute Innovation Alliance.

"Greg brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position that will be extremely valuable to Indiana State and will enable him to hit the ground running as we enter the next biennial budget process. I look forward to working with him and welcome Greg and his family back to Terre Haute," said President Bradley.

Goode said he is excited and grateful for the opportunity to return to his alma mater.

"My life has been greatly impacted by Indiana State University as I personally experienced many wonderful opportunities of personal and intellectual growth while I was there as a student and employee," he said. "I look forward to assisting President Bradley with the fulfillment of the university's vision and working with leaders at the local, state and federal levels to advance Indiana State's mission. My family and I are equally excited to return to the Wabash Valley, which has been and always will be home for us."

In addition to his positions at Indiana State and Bastyr, Goode has held key roles on the staffs of former U.S. Reps. Steven Buyer, Brian Kearns and Ed Pease, served on the boards of directors of Terre Haute Regional Hospital and the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce and on the Indiana Chamber of Commerce federal policy task force.

Goode holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in history from Indiana State and is pursuing a Ph.D. in public policy and administration from Virginia Tech. He will begin his new duties at Indiana State on July 16.
