Elected officials, community and economic development professionals and volunteer leaders from throughout the Wabash Valley, including Illinois, are invited to an economic impact workshop in Terre Haute.

The goal is to help participants determine the best investments for their community's economic future, said Chris Pfaff, director of the Indiana State University Business Engagement Center.

"Especially in these tight budget times, making wise investments for communities is critical," Pfaff said.

The workshop, which includes a regional resource fair, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Whitaker Conference Room of University Hall. It is part of a series of workshops being held throughout the state during May and June. The workshops are designed to provide tools and techniques to measure economic impact.

Topics to be addressed include "Understanding Your Regional Economy," "Measuring Economic Impact" and "Best Practices Impacting Economic Vitality."

This workshop series is presented by the Economic Development Working Group, a collaboration of the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Association of Indiana Counties, Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, Indiana Economic Development Association, Ball State University, Indiana State University, Indiana University, Purdue University, and University of Southern Indiana.
