The Crossroads of America Youth Orchestra (CAYO) will join the ISU Orchestra in a "Side by Side" concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21.
CAYO is made up of Wabash Valley students from sixth through 12th grade. CAYO's Music Director Roby George will begin the concert by leading the youth orchestra in "Prelude and Aragonaise" from George Bizet's "Carmen Suite." The University Symphony will then perform "Tragic Overture" by Johannes Brahms, and "Romeo and Juliet Overture" by Tchaikovsky, under William Davis' direction. Finally, both orchestras will play "side by side" in a performance of Antonin Dvorak's "Slavonic Dance No.8."
"This is the first time in my 20 years at ISU that we have done a collaboration of this type. Dr. George suggested the possibility, and I jumped at the opportunity. We're both thrilled about it," said Davis.
The concert will be in Tilson Auditorium and is free of charge. For more information, call 237-2771.
The concert is at 7:30 p.m. April 21 in Tilson Auditorium.
