Indiana State University's School of Music is celebrating Valentine's Day with "A Catered Cabaret: Torch Songs and Love Songs from the ‘Great American Songbook'" on Feb. 12 in the University Hall Atrium.
Select singers from ISU's Opera and Music Theater Workshop, under the direction of Mark Carlisle and Colleen Davis, will perform songs by Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin while attendees partake of desserts and the gourmet cocoa and coffee bar at this after-dinner event.
"There will be ooey-gooey desserts and spicy songs," said Davis. "This is something for singles, couples and groups of friends to enjoy."
Singers will perform songs such as "Stardust," "On My Way to You," "Stormy Weather," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "When I Fall in Love" and more through solos, duets and ensemble numbers celebrating the ups and downs and twist and turns of all things romantic.
The cocoa and coffee bar and dessert table open at 7 p.m. and the ‘curtain' opens at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12 and are only available by advance purchase. Get your tickets by calling 237-2771 or emailing Jason at jfishburn@indstate.edu.
