Indiana State University President Dan Bradley will discuss accountability in higher education during an upcoming address at the Columbia Club in Indianapolis.
Bradley will speak at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 16) in the Hulman-George Library as part of the Columbia Club Lecture Series.
Bradley became Indiana State's 11th president in July 2008 after serving as president of Fairmont State University in West Virginia for seven years.
Indiana State was an early adopter of the College Portrait Voluntary System of Accountability and Bradley serves on the system's advisory board. Sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, College Portrait is designed to make comparable information about colleges and universities more accessible and transparent to the public via the Web.
Bradley is also a founding member of the Presidents' Alliance for Excellence in Student Learning and Accountability, a new initiative of 71 college and university leaders that pledges to gather more evidence about student learning; implement the most effective strategies and provide more information to the public about the quality of learning on member campuses.
Indiana State's strategic plan "The Pathway to Success," embraces accountability by establishing benchmark indicators of success and aggressive goals. Progress is measured annually, reviewed by audit committees and shared with campus and the general public through an annual stakeholder meeting
A "meet and greet" session is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., prior to Bradley's presentation, which will be followed by a question and answer session and an evening of networking at the Columbia Club, 121 Monument Circle.
The event is free, but reservations are requested by contacting Natasha Garcia at the Columbia Club at ngarcia@columbia-club.org or 317-761-7528.
