Darrell Wible will discuss his book "Memoirs of an Indiana Broadcaster, 1949-1966" at 6 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 21) in Indiana State University's Cunningham Memorial Library. The free presentation will be part of the Wabash Valley Visions and Voices program.

Wible had a 17-year career in broadcasting and journalism and worked for such media outlets as WBOW, WTHI and The Saturday Spectator in Terre Haute. He followed that career with a career as an educator at Ball State University where he started the communication department. National television personality David Letterman was one of his star students at Ball State

Wible holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana State, graduating in 1949 and 1953, respectively. He is a member of the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Indiana Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame and is professor emeritus of communication at Ball State. He was a student-athlete while at Indiana State and threw a nine-inning no-hit shutout for the Sycamore baseball team in 1949.

Refreshments will be served following Wible's presentation. The ISU Foundation will have books available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of books purchased during Wible's appearance will support the Evelyn Wible Nursing Scholarship at Indiana State.
