Indiana State University's Masterworks Chorale, a community choir that serves the Wabash Valley, is looking for vocalists who love music and are interested in performing.

The group performs under the auspices of the ISU department of music, which serves as a center of musical art and culture for the Wabash Valley, and is comprised of students, faculty and community singers.

The ensemble studies and performs choral works with the ISU Symphony Orchestra and professional soloists each semester.

During the 2010-2011 school year, Nancy Cobb Lippens, chairperson of the ISU department of music, will serve as director for Masterworks Chorale as it presents two major concerts. In its first concert of the season on Dec. 3, the group will perform Francis Poulenc's "Gloria." The work for the April 17 concert will be announced during the fall.

Cobb Lippens, who has led the department of music at ISU since July of 2009, has directed and conducted community choral groups in Fort Myers, Fla. and Shawnee, Okla. She has taught and conducted at the Bower School of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University and at Oklahoma Baptist University.

She also served as president of the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association and was named Director of Distinction by the organization in 1995.

New members are welcome to join rehearsals Monday evenings at 7 p.m. in Room 150 of the Center for Performing and Fine Arts at 301 N. Seventh St. Rehearsals begin Aug. 30.
