Conference set to report on strategic plan

Indiana State University will update implementation of its strategic plan, "The Pathway to Success," April 27 in the Heritage Lounge and Ballroom of Tirey Hall.

The university launched its ambitious five-year plan in October following a year-long process involving hundreds of campus and community leaders. Goals include growth in enrollment and graduation rates, even greater community involvement, more opportunities for experiential learning, enhancing programs of distinction, diversifying revenue, improving the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff and increasing partnerships with public and private organizations.

The day-long Strategic Planning Stakeholders Conference will provide opportunities to discuss ways the plan's initiatives and strategies can be improved. Campus and community members are invited to attend any or all of the sessions.

Chris Murphy, a member and former chair of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, will outline the commission's goals for higher education and how Indiana State's strategic plan relates to them. His address will be followed by sessions on each of the goals:

* 10 a.m. Goal 1: Increase Enrollment and Student Success

* 11 a.m. Goal 2: Advance Experiential Learning and Goal 3: Enhance Community Engagement

* Noon Lunch (RSVPs required at 812- 237-4000)

* 1:15 p.m. Goal 4: Strengthen and Leverage Programs of Strength and Promise and Goal 5: Diversify Revenue: Philanthropy, Contracts and Grants

* 2:15 p.m. Goal 6: Recruit and Retain Great Faculty and Staff, and Partnering for Success

* 3:15 p.m. Closing Comments.
