Thomas Simon will speak on the Clean Water Act as the Earth Day keynote speaker for Indiana State University's Darwin Speaker's Series on Tuesday April 20.

Simon, an ISU biology professor, will speak on "The Effects of Biological Criteria on the Clean Water Act: Triumphs, Tragedies, and Future Needs."

Simon, a well-known ichthyologist, is writing a book on the fishes of Indiana. He has expertise on larval fishes and consults on projects related to power plants, pollutants and the effects on fish communities.

The talk will begin at 4 p.m. in the science building room 012. Cookies will be served at 3:30 p.m.

Earth Day was first introduced in 1969 as a "holiday" that celebrates the Earth and all of its environments. Earth day is an integrative event that demonstrates how disciplines must work together in solving global climate change problems and how we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
