Indiana State University has honored six current and former students with Student Assistant Recognition Awards.

The awards recognize student workers in five categories, based upon length of service to the same department, for their work during 2009-10. Departments throughout the campus nominated 32 student employees. All the nominees received a certificate and free lunch at Texas Roadhouse while the winning students also received Barnes & Noble gift cards.

"ISU is known for experiential learning. Each year hundreds of students receive valuable experience in offices all across campus while helping those offices provide better service to the university and the Terre Haute community. These awards recognize those student workers who have performed their campus jobs exceptionally well," said Kent Waggoner, director of the Career Center.

This year's top honorees in each category are:
• Jennifer McClure, sophomore speech/language pathology major from Spencer; International Programs and Services, Category 1, less than one year
• Megan Jackson, sophomore technology and engineering education major from West Terre Haute; College of Technology, Category 2, one to two years
• Matthew Noble, junior physical education major from Terre Haute; Office of Recreational Sports, Category 3, two to three years
• Kelsey Sutfin, December 2009 Spanish graduate from Robinson, Ill.; Office of Communications and Marketing, Category 3, two to three years
• Alison Gehring, senior accounting major from Lyons; Office of Student Employment Programs, Category 4, three to four years
• Che-Jung Chang, a Ph.D. candidate in curriculum, instruction and media technology; department of languages, literature and linguistics, graduate students.
