University Symphony, Choir to Present Concert

February 9, 2010

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State University's Concert Choir and University Symphony will perform Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Tilson Auditorium.

"This will be the first time in my 18 years at Indiana State that the orchestra will be conducted by three different conductors during one concert," said William Davis, conductor of the University Symphony. "It should be fun and a challenge for the students as they adjust to a different leader for each of the pieces".

Davis will lead the orchestra in the first work, Mozart's "Overture to The Magic Flute." Christian Schrock, an honors conducting student of Davis', will take the podium to conduct Aaron Copland's "Outdoor Overture."

Scott Buchanan, director of choral activities, will conduct Bach's "Magnificat," a brilliant setting of that liturgical text. Soloists will include sopranos Shelley Mitchell, Tara Cody, Emily Midgett, and Anna Buck; altos Heather Sampson, Toni Carroll and Terran Parrish; tenors Logan Williams and Michael Boswell, and baritone Michael Dean.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 812-237-2771.
