Business student receives 2009 SAP North America Scholarship

December 11, 2009

An Indiana State University business student, Ashlee Hull Taylor, recently received the 2009-2010 SAP North American Scholarship of $5,000.

Terre Haute native, Taylor, who is currently in her fourth year at ISU majoring in marketing, is the only Indiana recipient of the scholarship.

The SAP North American Scholarship Program recognizes undergraduate students pursing a degree in business, computer science, mathematics or engineering. Students eligible for the scholarship must be enrolled as a full-time, third or fourth year student, making satisfactory progress in his/her institution, have a cumulative overall GPA of 3.5 or higher and be actively involved in his/her community.

"Taylor is a stellar scholar, maintaining an almost perfect GPA through her three years at ISU," Paul Schikora, associate professor of operations management said. "In class, she is always attentive, involved and well-prepared."

Taylor has an overall GPA of 3.92 and has contributed 200 hours of her time to several organizations including the March of Dimes and the American Marketing Association. She also served as the American Marketing Association chapter president in the fall of 2008 through the spring of 2009.

"Outside of the classroom, Ashlee has been busy with numerous student groups and volunteer community activities," Schikora said. "As typical for her, she not only participates, but takes a leadership role in almost all of them."

The scholarship awarded to Hull will assist her in her tuition expenses.

"I feel very honored to have received this award," Taylor said. "I worked really hard to put together a great application package and I felt that my hard work really paid off."

Taylor was among 15 recipients of the scholarship from all over the U.S. and Canada.

"I couldn't have done it without the help of my family and faculty at ISU who have helped me through my years at ISU," Taylor said.
