October 12, 2009

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - There's still time to enroll in a non-credit course from Indiana State University.

Want to learn how to live debt-free in the 21st Century? Indiana State offers a workshop designed for middle class Americans who want to build real wealth and become financially independent by eliminating debt. Learn a linear mathematical system that will eliminate all your consumer debt in one to four years, and your mortgage in another three to five years with your current income. Bring a pocket calculator and list of your debts with balances and monthly payments (principal and interest only for mortgage) to develop your own debt elimination plan. Simple money management techniques that will help ensure you achieve your personal financial goals will also be discussed. The textbook will be available from the instructor for $39. This course is offered 6-9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in College of Business, room 210. Forest Wilson will instruct the course. There is a fee of $40.

"ASP/CSP Examination Preparation" will improve knowledge and skills expected of safety professionals. Topics covered are based on the Board of Certified Safety Professions (BCSP) requirements for the ASP/CSP examination. Basic mathematics, physics, mechanics, chemistry, hydraulics, economics, and scientific calculator skills development are also taught. Each attendee will receive a home study workbook for reviewing more than 900 questions and problems of all the topics required. This course is offered 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Nov. 16, 17 and 18 at the Aviation Technology Center at Indianapolis International Airport, 2175 S. Hoffman Road. Boris Blyukher, professor of health and safety at ISU, will instruct the course. There is a fee of $599.

Have you ever wondered if there was a historical figure in your family tree? This course, "What's in Your Gene Pool," will help you learn how to uncover the hidden past in your family genealogy and in so doing so will introduce your present to your past via the Internet, local library resources and old-fashioned detective work. This course is offered 7 - 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Nov. 10 to Dec. 15 in Root Hall, room A-008. Jessica D. Fields of Indiana State's Geography, Geology, and Anthropology and History departments will instruct the course. There is a fee of $70.
