Oct. 6 will be TV Tuesday at University Recycle Center

October 1, 2009

October 6 will be the next "TV Tuesday" at the Indiana State University Recycle Center, 449 N. Ninth St.

Old televisions may be dropped off during the center's regular hours from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. To help defer the costs of processing TVs and transporting them to Indianapolis for de-manufacturing and recycling, a fee of $5 will be charged for sets with screens of 27 inches and less and a fee of $10 for sets larger than 27 inches.

A grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management has allowed the ISU Recycle Center, TREES Inc., and Indianapolis-based Workforce Inc. to accept electronic scrap, including computers and related products, on a daily basis. However, the collection of televisions is limited to four times per year because of the extra manpower and expense incurred.

Future "TV Tuesdays" are scheduled for January 5 and April 6.
