Health Center confirms influenza A case

September 11, 2009

An Indiana State University student has tested positive for influenza A, marking the first positive lab test of the year in the university’s Student Health Center, according to Bridget Gaddis, the center’s director.

Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control call for treating a confirmed case of influenza A as a case of novel H1N1 influenza and the Health Center is proceeding in that manner. The student has gone home to recover. The student’s roommate is showing no symptoms but has also returned home as a precaution.
