Eight students from the insurance and risk management program at Indiana State University have been awarded scholarships by the Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. The ISU students received the most scholarship money among all colleges and universities in the program.
The Spencer Educational Foundation, administered by the New York-based Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc., is celebrating its 30th year of providing grants and scholarships to students in risk management and insurance. This year, the foundation awarded more than $167,500 in full-time student scholarship awards and an additional $20,455 in part-time master scholarships.
Indiana State students receiving the John T. Lockton Memorial Scholarship are: Stephanie Balbach, a senior from Evansville; Terri Ketzner, a junior from Ferdinand; Sara Mays, a junior from Paoli; Dave Walters, a junior from Valparaiso; and Paige Williams, a senior from Terre Haute.
Cecelia Emmons, a senior from French Lick, was awarded the September 11th Memorial Scholarship.
Brandon Hunter, a senior from Greenfield, was awarded the Zurich Financial Services Scholarship.
Nathan Lloyd, a senior from Plymouth, was awarded the Joseph P. Holwerda Memorial Scholarship.
The ISU students received a total of $40,000 in scholarships. Students from 16 other colleges and universities also received funding from the foundation. Temple University received the second-highest amount of scholarship funding at $25,000, followed by Florida State University at $15,000.
The Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. stimulates, promotes and encourages promising undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students of risk management disciplines in fulfilling their educational goals by providing scholarship awards and educational grants. Established in 1979 to honor the late Robert S. Spencer, the foundation is administered by its Board of Directors and is affiliated with the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.
