College of Technology Destination Success Program

January 30, 2017

The Destination Success Mentoring Program in the College of Technology (COT) celebrates and acknowledges National Mentoring Month by focusing their monthly meeting on goal setting and resume building. All mentees in the program are COT female students majoring in STEM disciplines. Since the inception of the program, two students have graduated and started their careers.

The program was the vision of Mary McGuire, distinguished COT alumna. Serving along with Mrs. Mary McGuire as mentors are Dr. Kara Harris (COT Associate Dean), Mrs. Edie Wittenmyer (Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology Instructor) and Dr. Dwuena Wyre (Rose Hulman Institute of Technology).

Former President Barak Obama continued to support the initiative by issuing a proclamation declaring January 2017 as National Mentoring Month. The proclamation encourages reflection on the transformative role of mentorship and the continuation of mentorship in the US.

The next professional session for Destination Success is scheduled for 5 p.m. Feb. 6 in College of Technology 101E.

For additional information on Destination Success, please contact Dr. Kara Harris, Kara.Harris@indstate.edu or (812) 237-9633.
