New members appointed to trustee, alumni boards
HAUTE, Ind. ó Ron
Duke Carpenter, Indianapolis, and Jessica Erin Robertson, Fort
Wayne, are the newly appointed members of the Board of Trustees at
Indiana State University.
Carpenter is a 1977 graduate of Indiana State with a bachelorís degree in criminology. He also received his masterís degree from ISU in 1982, also in criminology. Carpenter currently serves as the president and CEO of the Childrenís Bureau of Indianapolis, Inc. He also works as a consultant for the Indiana Justice Task Force. Carpenter has served as the executive director for Hamilton Centers Youth Services Bureau, state director for Host Homes of Indiana and executive director for Vigo County Homes for Children. He is also a faculty member of the Indiana Child Development Institute and has served as an adjunct faculty professor for the University of Indianapolis. Carpenter is involved in Rotary Club, Speedway Exchange Club, St. Simons Church, Indiana Youth Services, ISU Alumni Council, Marion County Step Ahead Council, United Way of Central Indiana and the Greater Indianapolis Exchange Club Foundation.
Carpenter and his wife, Julia, have five children ó Jacob, Clare, Alex, Natalie and Nathan.
Robertson, a junior finance and pre-law major, is a 2001 graduate of Homestead High School. She is a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and Alpha Lambda Delta. Robertson also serves as student government director of investigative affairs.
The following are newly appointed members of the Alumni Board of Directors:
Jane Smeltzer Coleman, Lafayette, is a 1985 graduate of ISU receiving her bachelorís degree in technology. She is a tax specialist for H&R Block and owns Wyandotte Storage in Lafayette. Coleman has served as customer service manager for Oneida Rostone Corporation, technical recruiter for CPS, Inc., and customer service manager for CCL Custom Manufacturing, Inc. She is involved with the ISU Alumni Association, Boy Scouts of America, Indiana Button Society and is a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Coleman and her husband, David, have two children ó David and Emelie.
Harold Gutzwiller, Mooresville, is a 1978 graduate of ISU receiving his bachelorís degree in political science. He also received his masterís degree from ISU in 1982 in public administration. Gutzwiller works for the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership. He has served Senators Richard Lugar, Dan Quayle and Dan Coats between 1985 and 1992. Gutzwiller also served Congressman John Hostettler from 1995 to 2001, the American Cancer Society and the town of Mooresville. He is involved with Kiwanis and the Main Street United Methodist Church. He is married to Laura Gutzwiller.
Robert Rosenblatt, Sellersburg, is a 1972 graduate of ISU receiving his bachelorís degree in general business administration. He is director of commercial office sales at Bush Business Furniture. Rosenblatt is involved in Knights of Columbus. He and his wife, Suzanne, have two children ó Rob and Katie.
