Rockmore appointed executive director of CREED

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. Ronald F. Green, dean of the Indiana State University School of Business, today announced that B. Wayne Rockmore has been appointed executive director of the Center for Research, Enterprise and Economic Development (CREED) at ISU.

Rockmore currently holds a visiting position within the College of Business at The University of Central Florida in Orlando where he is involved in a variety of external outreach activities.

"With more than 20 years of experience in a variety of academic and consulting roles, Dr. Rockmore brings a wealth of experiences relevant to his duties as executive director of CREED, an outreach of the Indiana State University School of Business," said Dr. Bruce McLaren who served as chairman of the search committee.

The committee recognized the breadth of Rockmore's experiences while serving as interim director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City Tennessee, McLaren added.

"His leadership of that unit had an immediate positive impact on the regional business community and, in fact, provided me with insight into how a progressive business school focused on community outreach should be organized," said Green, who served as Associate Dean and Director of Graduate Studies in the College of Business at East Tennessee State University. "I feel confident that Dr. Rockmore can provide similar leadership for CREED and will assist in implementing many of the external outreach activities that have been proposed over the past year in the School of Business," Green continued.

Rockmore has served in a variety of academic, corporate, entrepreneurial and consulting roles. He has more than 20 years of consulting experience and has written many articles and presented at numerous workshops and seminars. He is a recognized expert in developing and evaluating compensation systems and has been recognized for his role in developing regional workforce development initiatives.

"I am excited to have been appointed to the position of CREED executive director and I look forward to working with the ISU campus and Terre Haute business communities. We will provide outreach opportunities, not only for businesses at the local level, but throughout the state of Indiana and beyond," Rockmore said. "The School of Business has some very exciting things in its future and I am eager to begin work at Indiana State to help in achieving those goals."

Rockmore earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia; a master's in personnel/human resource management from the University of Georgia; and a doctorate in management from the University of Georgia.

Prior to his work in Florida, Rockmore served as executive director of the Center for Organizational Development Services at Walters State Community College, where he was instrumental in the development of a series of comprehensive pay plan projects for Tennessee Board of Regent two-year institutions.

Before that, at East Tennessee State University, he served as assistant professor of management and interim director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research in the College of Business.

"Dr. Rockmore's work with economic development efforts in the Tri-State region centered in Johnson City, Tennessee, has provided him with the background necessary to lead CREED in playing a key role in the economic development efforts of this region," Green said. "While at East Tennessee State University, he was instrumental in the formation of the Regional Workforce Development Partnership (RWFDP), an innovative approach to uniting diverse groups into a cohesive workforce development effort."
