ISU sponsors marketing
seminar for nonprofits

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A marketing for nonprofit organizations seminar, sponsored by Indiana State University, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday (Sept. 25) at the YWCA, 951 Dresser Dr., in Terre Haute.

Generating visibility for nonprofit organizations is essential for success. Moreover, in the not-for-profit world, a working knowledge of public relations and marketing can go a long way in helping reach target markets more effectively, and succeeding despite increasing competition.

In this seminar participants will learn:

  • the marketing strategic planning process
  • to analyze internal and external organizational environments
  • to analyze and formulate strategies for target market segments
  • the functions of members of the board of directors
  • the public relations strategic planning process
  • media relations
  • how to work with volunteers
  • to evaluate your organization

Robert E. Thompson, professor of marketing at ISU and marketing consultant for nonprofit organizations will be the presenter. He is the author of "Marketing Plan Workbook for Nonprofit Organizations."

Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and enrollment is limited to 50 people. Cost is $30, which includes refreshments and handout materials.
