Larry Bird and the 1979 Sycamores took the collegiate basketball world by storm in the Year that March Went Mad.
Indiana State University paid tribute to Larry's legacy on the collegiate, professional and world courts through the Honoring a Legend weekend on November 8-9, 2013.
On Friday, November 8, the University hosted the Larry Bird Scholarship Dinner and Honoring a Legend Program, hosted by Jackie MacMullan. This evening was the most significant and successful fundraising events in Indiana State history resulting in a more than $400,000 endowment for the Larry Bird Scholarship.
The celebration continued with the Larry Bird Statue Dedication on Saturday, November 9. Thousands of ISU students and alumni, along with community members and ISU Basketball and Larry Bird fans, attended the event outside the Hulman Center.
