Banner Password Expiration

Your Banner password must be changed every 90 days. You do not need to request a password reset if your password has expired; the Banner system prompts you for a new password when your current password expires.

Note: If you are attempting to log on to Argos or Access with an expired password, you will first need to log in to Banner to set your new password.

  1. When you log on to Banner (INB) with an expired password, the Forms window is displayed with the message ORA-28001: the password is expired. Click the OK button.



  2. The Changing password for... window is displayed. Type your current password in the Old Password field.


  3. Type your new password in the New Password field.


  4. Type your new password again for verification in the Retype New Password field.


  5. Click the OK button.



  6. The Banner Main menu is displayed. When you are finished, exit INB.

Banner Password Reset using form GUAPSWD

Follow these instructions to change your Banner password using form GUAPSWD.

  1. Click on the Change Banner Password link under My Links on the main Banner window.





  2. Enter your old Banner password and then enter your new password twice.





  3. Press the save button to save your changes.





  4. If you didn’t enter the correct number of characters or the correct type of characters, you will receive an error message. If this happens, enter the new password again being sure to follow the password guidelines (listed below).





  5. Once you have entered your new password correctly, save your changes and click OK to return to Banner.



Banner Password Guidelines

  • You can’t use your last password
  • Your new password must be different from your old password by at least 3 characters
  • Passwords must start with an alphabetic character
  • Password length must be at least 8 alphanumeric characters
  • A minimum of one special character must be used in a new password
  • Recommended special characters are: ! and _
  • A minimum of one numeric character must be used in a new password
