ISU Live 2.0

ISU Live 2.0 Acquisitions and Upgrade Procedure and Policies 1.

About ISU Live 2.0

ISU Live 2.0 is a web based digital signage system that displays department news and campus news. Most of the contents of ISU Live can be controlled by the department via a web portal. ISU Live also serves as a primary means of emergency communication for campus.

ISU Live 2.0 has five content components:

  1. Social media section administered by Communications and Marketing.
  2. Department news in one of the following forms:
    1. Plain text news
    2. Image slide show
    3. Videos (requires approval by Communications and Marketing)
  3. Department tickers from one of the resources:
    1. RSS feed, or
    2. Plain text
  4. Weather and time.
  5. Full screen image slide show provided by Communications and Marketing and displayed at certain intervals, similar to commercials.

The difference between the legacy ISU Live and the web-based ISU Live 2.0 are listed in the table below.

4. ISU Live 2.0 supporting policies

4.1 General support

All ISU Live questions and support requests should be made through OIT help desk calling 2910, or through the Parature ticketing system. When you report a problem, please provide your department name, the location of your ISU Live equipment, and the property tag of your ISU Live PC.

4.2 Hardware support and warranty

All new ISU Live PCs and TVs have three-year warranty. If there are PC or TV malfunctioning within the warranty period, please contact OIT help desk. Broken PCs or TVs beyond the three year warranty should be replaced with model(s) recommended by OIT at the department’s cost. No pool machine will be provided to replace the old ones.

Legacy ISU Live PCs and TVs have all been used beyond their respective three-year warranty periods. Once upgraded to ISU Live 2.0, if there is any hardware damage or malfunction, the departments could either shutdown and unmount the devices, or purchase a new model recommended by OIT. No pool machine will be provided to replace the old ones.

4.3 Software support

Any software problem should be reported to OIT help desk calling 2910. Some examples of software related issues are: The TV displays a black or white screen; the screen shows login prompt; the screen shows network connection error; department admin cannot login to ISU Live web portal, etc.

4.4 Documentation and training

The contact person(s) of each department with ISU Live will need to complete a training video at http://isulive.indstate.edu/info/training.html before the delivery of the ISU Live system. User guide with more details will be emailed to the department contact person for reference.

4.5 Emergency Notification System

ISU Live systems serve as a primary means of emergency communication to campus. It is strongly recommended that ISU live installations be left on at all times and that they have no other inputs or displayable content that can be switched to. If secondary inputs are desired or deemed necessary, the display must have a prominent, permanently displayed, printed message informing viewers that emergency messaging may not appear and to rely on other emergency notification sources. MDRPS will provide signs as needed.
