Holiday choral concert set for Dec. 2

November 26, 2018

The Indiana State University School of Music will present a Holiday Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in University Hall Theater, located in the Bayh College of Education.

"This is going to be a really fun program," said ISU Director of Choral Activities Scott Buchanan. "We started this event a couple of years ago, and it has been very successful. Last year's audience was much bigger than the first, and I have received many requests from folks in the Terre Haute community to continue the event. We are always looking for ways to showcase the outstanding vocal talent we have here at ISU. Not just our students, but our voice faculty as well. Eventually, we want this event to involve the entire School of Music, however, we haven't figured out the logistics quite yet."

The program will feature the ISU Women's Choir, University Chorale and Sycamore Singers. All groups will perform a wide variety of Christmas and holiday music. Members of the ISU voice faculty will also make special appearances as Amanda Russo Stante and David Mannell will perform.

"It is great to have so many entities willing to share their talents with our community. I hope this can become an annual tradition that catches on and continues to build," Buchanan said. "The Holiday Season is such a special time here in Terre Haute. We have this concert on Sunday afternoon, and next weekend is the Miracle on 7th Street event downtown. Our audience will experience a great musical celebration to open the Holiday Season."

Tickets for the concert may be purchased at the door for $5 on the day of the event. You may pay with cash or check, as credit cards cannot be processed. For information, call 812-237-2768.
