Indiana State to host ‘Hullabaloo’ in downtown Terre Haute on Oct. 15

September 12, 2011

Indiana State University will ensure that, for one mid-October night, the stars will be shining brightly in downtown Terre Haute.

The Scott College of Business at ISU will host its first "Homecoming Hullabaloo" on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 7 p.m. to midnight in the Ohio Building at 672 Ohio St. The event, which centers around ISU's Homecoming, will feature food, cash bar, a silent auction and music by The MacDaddys. This event will also support this year's "Showtime Sycamores" Homecoming theme through movie-related festivities and décor, including a "Hollywood Walk of Fame" sponsorship opportunity for $100. Each star will line the floor that evening and display each donor or company's name.

"We're trying to attract not only Scott College of Business alumni and friends, but all Sycamore supporters, near and far, as well as the greater Terre Haute community," said Maria Greninger, director of external relations for the Scott College of Business. "Next year at this time, we'll be in our new building and one step closer to the downtown community, so why not embrace that and try to kick it off with a bang here on Homecoming weekend?"

Hullabaloo tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and can be purchased either by calling 812-237-2000 or by e-mail at Those interested may also reserve tickets to be available at "Will Call" that evening by visiting the Hullabaloo website at, or tickets can be mailed in advance. The proceeds from the event will fund professional development opportunities for Scott College of Business students, which include study abroad trips and travel for other events such as professional conferences and corporate visits.

"So it's all in the name of fun, but for a good cause" in student development, Greninger said. "The students are why we're here."

Though the event will be an opportunity for those over 21 to have fun during Homecoming weekend, it also is an event that will provide networking opportunities for those in attendance, Greninger said. This event is similar to other Scott College of Business alumni events that have taken place in Indianapolis the past two years, which Greninger noted have been well-received.

"This engages our alumni at a very personal level," she added, "and since we've had these events, we've had more alumni and industry partners become engaged with the college" in a number of ways.
