Magic and illusion will be in the air at Tilson Auditorium Feb. 14, when The Spensers appear in conjunction with the 2010-2011 Indiana State University Performing Arts Series.
Described by critics as "Modern day Houdinis," the husband-wife team have redefined the art of illusion and the stereotype of the traditional magician and assistant.
For the duo, magic is no longer merely about baffling the audience by doing something seemingly impossible. Their brand of magic is about drama, spectacle, interaction, danger and personality.
People have been known to levitate, walk through walls, vanish, and reappear. And be prepared to experience the magic yourself because the Spencers don't want you to just sit in your seat and watch - they want the audience to participate!
The Spencers are the only artists in history to be named Performing Arts Entertainers of the Year for six consecutive years and have twice been named America's Best Entertainers.
The performance, which is sponsored by Duke Energy, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the performance, a special Valentine's dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. A photographer will be available for Valentine's photos. Dinner tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Hulman Center Ticket Office Hulman Center or by calling 877-ISU-TIXS.
Tickets for the performance will be available at the door. Adult tickets are $16. Tickets are $10 for youth ages 2-18. ISU students are admitted free with a valid student ID and are invited to participate in a punch card program. Tickets are available in advance at the Hulman Center Ticket Office, by calling 800-745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com .
The Performing Arts Series, sponsored by First Financial Bank, will conclude March 24 with a performance by the Indianapolis-based group Dance Kaleidoscope.
