"March On!" tour heads to Lafayette, Lake County

December 3, 2009

Indiana State University will bring its "March On!" fall tour to Lafayette and Lake County this weekend.

President Dan Bradley is leading a delegation of university and ISU Foundation representatives on a six-city tour of Indiana to discuss Indiana State's new five-year strategic plan and the foundation's newly-launched comprehensive fundraising campaign. The tour also provides an opportunity for prospective students and parents to meet with admissions counselors to learn more about programs available and the college admission process.

The ISU strategic plan calls for a 15 percent increase in enrollment by 2014 as well as improved graduation rates. It also calls for moving some campus facilities to Terre Haute's planned "Riverscape" development and working with the foundation to diversify revenue in an effort to limit future tuition increases. Other goals include strengthening Indiana State's most distinctive programs, continuing to upgrade student housing and constructing a new "front door" campus entrance from U.S. 41.

The foundation's first comprehensive fundraising campaign is intended to fund areas representing four pillars of the university: student support, teaching and faculty development, program support and facilities. "March On! The Campaign for Indiana State University" raised more than half of its $85 million goal by the time of its public launch Oct. 23 in conjunction with Indiana State's 89th Homecoming celebration. The campaign is scheduled to run through December 2011. Information about the campaign may be found at

The "March On!" visit to Lafayette will include a public reception from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Holiday Inn-City Centre, 515 South Street. A reception in conjunction with the Lake County visit is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Avalon Manor, 3350 E. U.S. Highway 30 in Merrillville. Alumni, prospective students and parents are especially encouraged to attend the receptions.

Previous stops on the "March On!" tour included South Bend, Fort Wayne, Evansville and Jasper. More information is available by contacting the Indiana State University Alumni Association at 800-258-6478 or
